A Step-By-Step Outline of the Pole Building Process
Once you decide that a pole building is the right investment for you, there are a number of steps that will take place before your building is complete and ready to enjoy.
To give you a better idea of what to expect along the way, we’ve created this step-by-step outline of the sales and building process for your pole barn. For a more detailed explanation, please see our Plan Your Build page.
How Does The Sales Process Begin?
When you decide that you’re interested in exploring the possibility of adding a pole barn to your property, the first step is to simply reach out for an estimate by phone or email.
After you have initiated contact with Beehive, you’ll begin speaking with our sales team. In this early stage we will just need a few preliminary details to send you a free quote.
Visit with The Sales Team
Next, a member of our sales team will come to meet you at the site. At this point, they will sketch the building, show you exactly where it will go, and work with you on choosing colors and any added accessories you would like. From there, you’ll sign a contract and give your down payment—then we’re well on our way to creating your dream building!
What Happens Next?
At this step in the process, you have officially contracted to build your pole building; now it’s time to get down to business.
We will get to work on preliminary plans with our engineer and email them to you in about a week; you’ll want to keep an eye on your inbox so you can review them once they come in.
When you receive your plans, be sure to check everything from the size and accessories to the window and door placements, just to make sure everything is correct.
This is the perfect time to let us know if you see any revisions that need to be made to your plans, because once the plans are finalized there is a $350 change fee plus the cost of the change to make any alterations.
Once everything looks exactly right and your plans have been finalized, it’s time to apply for building permits. Usually we take care of this, but in very few cities or counties it’s the owner’s responsibility to apply for the building permit; the owner is always responsible for paying the permit fee.
Once the permit has been applied for, the review process can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks at the city or county level.
Permit Is Issued
When the review process is complete and the permit is ready to be issued, the city or county will let us know. We then let you know that you can pick up and pay for the permit. Once that is done, please hold on to the permit and any accompanying documents for your meeting with our project manager.
Site Visit with Project Manager
Before construction begins, our project manager will call you to set up a meeting where you can go over the details of your building and make sure everyone is on the same page. At that point, we will get the permit documents from you.
What Are The Final Steps?
When we reach this point, the moment that you’ve been eagerly awaiting has finally arrived: it’s time to start constructing your building!
Once we begin the process, we’ll move as quickly as possible to complete your pole building. You’ll be able to watch as the building you’ve envisioned comes together right before your eyes.
Final Walk Through
When your pole building is finished, the project manager will return for a final walk through with you to make sure that you’re pleased with the way that everything turned out.
Thank You Visit
For the final step in the process, a member of our sales team will visit with you to bring some Beehive Swag, ask for a review, and make sure you’re as happy as possible with your building and your experience.
We understand that it can feel like a long process as you wait for your building to be completed; that’s why we strive to be as clear and communicative as possible every step of the way.
