One of the most important aspects of any pole barn build is selecting the right siding. Not only will certain siding options offer more curb appeal, but some pole barn cladding materials are more durable and resistant to pests and fire damage. Understanding the differences between each siding material and the benefits they provide can help you determine the best option for your build.
When you’re ready to connect with Beehive Buildings to start your pole barn build, first take the time to review the pros and cons of each siding option we offer. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have to ensure you’re 100% satisfied with the final result!
Selecting the Right Pole Barn Cladding
At Beehive Buildings, our team offers a broad range of pole barn cladding options, including American-made, 29-gauge PBR panel metal siding. We also offer cedar board and batten, and vinyl siding options. While metal, cedar board and batten, and vinyl might be some of the more popular materials we carry, our Hardie board siding materials should not be overlooked.
Hardie Board Pole Barn Siding
Also referred to as cement board siding, Hardie board siding is one of the most versatile, durable and aesthetically appealing pole barn cladding options available. Created from element-resistant fiber cement, Hardie board siding offers incredible durability. In fact, Hardie siding is noncombustible and has been approved for fire-rated construction, making it a more fire-safe siding material than other options. Hardie board is also completely rot- and insect-resistant.
Hardie board siding is also very customizable, capable of imitating just about any siding material, including wood lap boards, cedar shingles and wood shake siding. One drawback to this material is the fact that it’s much more expensive to install than other siding options, such as vinyl, cedar board and batten, or stucco. This is due to the fact that Hardie board siding is extremely heavy and requires more labor to install properly.

Can you replace old barn exteriors? What’s the most affordable option?
Hi Lacy,
Unfortunately, we don’t replace siding on existing buildings. We only do new builds.
Best wishes,
Heidi
