At Beehive Buildings, we’re committed to providing the best customer service in our industry. We know that a successful project relies on open and clear communication with our customers — and that starts with straightforward conversations about pole building costs.
One of the most common questions we get from prospective customers is, “How much do pole barns cost?” The (admittedly frustrating) answer to that question is the same every time: It depends.
Average Pole Barn Cost & Considerations
As with any type of building construction, costs can vary widely from project to project. While construction of a pole building is simpler and less expensive than concrete or steel structures, the flexible nature of pole buildings allows for nearly unlimited customization to fit your particular needs and uses. These customizations can greatly affect the final cost of your pole building.
Pole buildings can cost as little as $20,000 or as much as $135,000 (or more). On average, however, most pole buildings fall in the $55,000 to $95,000 range.
To give our customers a basic idea of typical costs, we group our builds into two general categories: Standard Pole Buildings and Deluxe Pole Buildings.
Standard Pole Building Pricing
Our Standard Pole Buildings are just that – standard. While these simpler custom builds don’t include extra accessories, Beehive Buildings experienced builders maintain our high-quality standards across the board to ensure every single build meets our customers’ expectations.
Standard Pole Building Features
- 6x6 solid treated wood poles installed in concrete pier footing
- 2x6 standard girts for wall framing
- 2x6 purlins for roof framing
- 29-gauge steel wall panels and trim
- One personnel door
- One garage door
Beehive Buildings Standard Pole Buildings cost (on average) $26 - $40 per square foot*.
*It’s important to note that this is an all-inclusive cost for the build. Some companies will provide estimates that are significantly lower, but many of these estimates don’t account for the cost of site preparation or labor costs.
Deluxe Pole Building Pricing
Our Deluxe Pole Buildings include all of the components of a Standard Pole Building along with a concrete floor and other desired accessories. The cost of these builds varies greatly depending on the number and type of add-ons.
Common Deluxe Pole Building Accessories
- 6”-thick R-19 insulation
- 12” roof overhangs
- Double X doors (hay doors)
- Sliding doors
- Additional man doors
- Multiple windows
- Steel wainscoting
- Lean-tos and porches
- Flying gable
- Eaves lights
- Gutters
- Lofts
- Cupolas
- Hardie board
- Custom exteriors
Beehive Buildings Deluxe Pole Buildings cost (on average) $30 - $55 per square foot*.
*It’s important to note that this is an all-inclusive cost for the build. Some companies will provide estimates that are significantly lower, but many of these estimates don’t account for the cost of site preparation or labor costs.
Other Pole Barn Cost Factors
There are two other factors that can affect the cost of your pole building: landscape and travel.
Unfortunately, some pieces of property aren’t well suited for a new building and require a significant amount of preparation before the build. For example, if the land is especially steep, concave, convex, or requires clearing, you can expect a higher overall cost for your build.
As a Utah-based company, we’re no stranger to secluded mountain homes and homesteads off the beaten path. Unfortunately, travel to these secluded areas for our crew can be costly. Travel costs may apply, depending on location.
