Exploring An Important Detail of The Building Process
When you add a new pole building to complement your dream home or build a barndominium to bring your ideal living space to life, it’s easy to focus on the end result and forget about the details of the process.
One important detail that can’t be overlooked is the building permit, and it’s handled differently depending on where your property is located and how your building will be used, but we’ve outlined everything you need to know below.
When Is It Time to Apply for The Permit?
Once any changes have been made and the engineered plans have been finalized, it’s time to apply for the building permit with the city or county.
Who Applies for The Permit?
Most of the time, Beehive Buildings handles applying for the building permit, but there are certain exceptions to this rule. In certain cities and counties, the application process is very involved and takes quite a bit of time. In these places, you can either apply for the building permit on your own or we offer the permit application service for a fee; some of these locations are listed below:
- North Ogden City
- Farmington City
- Summit County
- Wasatch County
In these locations, Beehive Buildings still provides the plans and engineering if you decide to do the application process yourself. You will also have to apply for your own permit if you plan on constructing a commercial building.
What Happens Next?
It can take 2-6 weeks for the permit review process to take place. Once the permit is ready, the owner is responsible for picking up and paying for the building permit.
After that, there’s nothing else you’ll need to worry about when it comes to permits—you’ll simply be able to sit back and relax as you watch your pole building come together!
